Origins Out Of Trouble 10 Minute Mask Review

I decided to pick up a new face mask as the one I had been using had in all honesty seen better days and I felt that I didn't want to continue using it as I had owned it for a while and needed a fresher product to use!

I came across the Origins Out Of Trouble face mask whilst perusing the skincare section on the John Lewis website and decided to order myself a bottle. I've used Origins face masks and other products from their skincare range in the past and I had never been disappointed with them.

I felt that this mask would actually be ideal for me as it is described as a 10 minute rescue mask for problem skin. My skin doesn't play ball at the best of times and I'm constantly feeling very oily, finding blemishes and just generally feeling like my skin doesn't quite have that glow.

I used a grape sized amount of the mask and just gradually layered up the product onto my face. It's a nice consistency and doesn't seem either too runny or too thick to apply to the face, it's just right. After placing the mask on my face, I went off to chill out for 10 minutes to let the mask do its work on my skin. The first thing I noticed was that it was starting to make my face tingle. This wasn't unpleasant, in fact, it actually felt slightly satisfying.

Another thing I noticed was that the mask smelt like a menthol/eucalyptus smell? Looking at the ingredients and the description of the mask, this isn't stated, but to me that's definitely something that I could smell. Again not unpleasant and actually satisfying and relaxing.

Overall I was very impressed with this face mask and I will almost certainly be re-purchasing this when the time comes around, it made my face look so fresh and revitalised!

Beauty Haul | May 2016

Hello everyone :)

I thought I would share with you in this blog post what beauty items I have purchased so far this month. There's been quite a few things that have caught my eye, and some things that I've been wanting for a while but have only just got round to purchasing.

Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Paints;

I bought a couple of polishes from the Daylight Curing range- one is called 'Dark Side Of The Shroom' which is a taupe-purple colour and it was first colour to catch my eye when admiring the collection. I also picked up another colour called 'Fuchsia Generation' which is a dark pink colour and looks lovely and vibrant.

Origins Out Of Trouble Face Mask;

I needed a new face mask as the one I was using had run out, previously I had been using the Origins Charcoal mask which I got bored of and wanted to try something new. I do have troublesome skin sometimes, so I thought I would give this mask a go and see what I thought.

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask;

In addition to the Origins mask, I thought I would treat myself to the Charlotte Tilbury face mask. I'll only use this face mask as a treat however! But I'm so excited to try it and see what effect it has on my skin.

Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes;

I'll admit that I'm a mascara addict and try every mascara that I can under the sun, however having seen this mascara being used I'm expecting big things from this product.

Charlotte Tilbury Lips Makeup Bag;

I decided to pick up this makeup bag because it looks amazing. I love the lip prints on the front and the slogan "Give A Woman The Right Makeup And She Can Conquer The World" on the back. This will be a good makeup bag to pack in a bag or suitcase as the material is fabric and can be easily packed away without taking up too much room.

Aromatherapy Associates Travel Bath and Shower Oils;

This is a new product to me, so I decided to pick up the travel samples as I wasn't sure which scents I would like to be able to commit to buying the bigger size bottle. I have to admit, I was expecting these samples to be a little bigger but I should still be able to get quite a few uses out of each bottle in the box.

Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel Review

I have a new Soap and Glory review for you today, this is a shower gel which I have only just recently stumbled across, and in my adventurous state of mind, picked it up to try something new.

I say adventurous, because normally fruity shower gels really aren't my sort of thing; however I have been pleasantly surprised by this product.

I have to admit, I was slightly unsure of the citrus smell when I first opened the bottle, however six weeks after making the purchase I have come round and now really like the smell.

Packed with such zesty ingredients including Fresh Green Mandarin, Sicilian Lemon, and Sweet Orange Peel Oils and also containing Ginseng and Pinkpepperberry this shower gel is bound to revitalize your skin and is perfect for that first thing in the morning shower when you're still very sleepy and not with it- who needs caffeine?

Aside from it's wonderful ingredients, it's also super nourishing for your skin and moisturizes your body whilst making you feel fresh, which is a huge bonus and means less time having plaster your skin with moisturiser after you've finished in the shower.

This shower gel retails for £6.50- however I managed to get this for nothing as I used a Boots gift card. Thank you Soap and Glory, you have now changed my opinion on fruity smelling shower gels and have broadened my mind!

What I Made | SORTEDfood's Lemon Drizzle Cake

I thought I would share with you a recipe from SORTEDfood that I attempted to make at the weekend. It actually ended up seeming too hot for baking, but I had set my heart on making this cake ever since I  had watched the video for this on YouTube, and it really caught my eye.

For a first attempt at making the Lemon Drizzle Cake, it wasn't too bad, but I think I could have made it better! After lots of near calamities while preparing, including lots of  wasted lemons dropped on the floor, and an emergency trip to Sainsbury's to replace said dropped lemons, it was okay. I also think I may have put too much cake mixture into the loaf tin, and the cake didn't bake very consistently, however, it certainly tasted okay and I really like that this recipe includes putting blueberries into the cake. The only changes I made, was that I didn't include tarragon and didn't make the candied peel as I didn't have enough time to do this.

The good thing about my first attempt of making this is that I have learnt what I would do differently next time, including not baking during a heatwave! Because I'm determined to perfect this recipe haha!

I'm going to leave some pictures below of my attempt, and also the link to SORTEDfood's website so you can take a look at the recipe and video.

Yankee Candle 'Lavender' Review

Today I have a review of another of the votives which I received for Christmas. This one is the Lavender votive, and I must admit, If I had come across the candle in the shop I perhaps would not consider picking this one up, which is why the selection of the different fragrances is a wonderful idea.

The Lavender Yankee Candle has a lovely Lavender smell, which I would also say is quite fragrant. It's a lovely purple colour, and is perfect for times where you want to wind down and chill out. I would suggest lighting this candle either before bath-time or before bedtime to really help you relax.

After I had the candle lit one evening, the morning after I went into the room where the candle was and the room had the lovely fragrance from the candle which was great that the fragrance lasts that long.

The Yankee Candle votives guarantee at least 10 hours burning time which is a pretty good length of time considering they are small. Each votive is reasonably priced at £1.80, so this is a wonderful opportunity to pick up a few votives of different fragrances to find out which ones are perfect for you before picking up the bigger jars!
