The Body Shop 'Instablur' Primer Review

A few months ago, I had run out of primer, and I was keen to try something new to broaden my makeup horizons. I had watched a few makeup tutorials on YouTube, and had seen the Instablur primer by The Body Shop mentioned.

I decided to make a trip to The Body Shop one day and pick up a tube to try out. The Instablur primer promises to blur pores to make skin photo-ready in an instant. From my experience of using this product, I would totally agree. It's actually quite intriguing seeing how my pores vanish as soon as I smooth this product into my skin. It really is the perfect base for foundation to sit on top of. I would also point out that my makeup last a lot longer than normal when I am wearing this primer; I haven't noticed any slipping foundation/eye products since I have used this, which, apart from hiding my pores is exactly what I would want a primer to do.

The texture of this primer is another point I want to mention. It's translucent, meaning that it is perfect for any skin tone, unlike some primers which are only suited to certain skin tones making matching up quite difficult. I find as well sometimes when I squeeze some of the primer out that it doesn't smooth onto my skin very easily and falls off my face when trying to rub it in but it's not a massive issue, it can just be a little irritating if you get it on clothes/ carpet, but again is in no way reflective of the benefits of this primer.

Overall, I'm very impressed with this primer, and at £14 is at the higher end of the market, but is worth it!

Maybelline 'The Colossal Go Extreme' Mascara (Leather Black)

Anyone who knows me will know that I am a massive mascara addict, I have a huge variety of mascara's hidden away in various places and I just cannot get enough of them. Today I want to write about a mascara which I actually won in a giveaway by Beauty At Tesco on their Instagram page, and has been in my possession since the end of last year.

I am a big fan of Maybelline's mascara's, I find that for a high street brand, the quality is excellent and provides so much lift and definition to make your eyes look out of this world without breaking the bank. One of my all time favourites is their 'Falsies' mascara, as I couldn't believe how amazing that made my lashes look. So this mascara is a new one on me, it’s their Colossal Go Extreme product which promises to deliver volume on the biggest brush ever.

And that's one point I want to make, the brush is huge! It kind of scared me a bit at first as I could see myself getting panda eyes trying to use it. However, with a careful application this shouldn't happen, although I do find that it's a bit awkward trying to really get into my lashes with the wand sometimes as it seems really out of proportion with my eye.

The product itself does make my lashes look more voluminous and lifts them up to give my eye more definition, which is great. I always use my eyelash curlers before I apply my mascara, but the product holds that curl for the duration of the day which is the most important part. I'm very impressed with this product, and for £6.99 it's a brilliant price for a high quality product.

Liz Earle Daily Essentials Kit Light Review

Today, I am sitting down to review some lovely Liz Earle products I purchased at the beginning of July. I've heard a lot of hype about Liz Earle's skincare for quite some time now, so I decided to invest, and see for myself.

I purchased the daily essentials kit as this contained the necessities that I felt I needed. I have quite oily skin, so I felt that picking the 'light' version would suit me better. In this kit, it includes the following products;

Cleanse & Polish

This is Liz Earle's famous cleanser, which promises to remove any residue left on your face at the beginning and end of the day, and my word does it do that! I couldn't honestly believe the amount of dirt it removed off my face the first time I used this, I was actually slightly disgusted at the amount of dirt it pulled off my face! I wasn't wearing makeup at the time so I hadn't expected anything to still be on my face! But, for me, that's where this product earns its brownie points, there aren't many products that can really cleanse your face perfectly, and this one just acts like a magnet and draws away all of the rubbish that a makeup remover can't.

Instant Boost Skin Tonic

After cleansing my face with the Cleanse & Polish, I then go on to use the toner in this kit. This is so lovely to use, as I find it so cooling and refreshing, it really wakes the skin up in my opinion! I just pour a little drop of this toner onto a cotton pad and just wipe it all across my face and neck. This smells amazing too; you can really smell the scent of roses in this.

Skin Repair Moisturiser Light

I then move onto moisturising after I have cleansed and toned, and to do this, I use the light moisturiser in the Liz Earle skincare range. I can't really describe the smell of this but all I can say is that it just smells fresh and it feels like a dream when you are rubbing it in to your skin, it really feels like you are repairing your skin and bringing it back to life. As I do have oily skin, it's important that I use the light moisturiser as I don't want to be overloading my skin with products and causing a massive breakout. The moisturiser doesn't feel heavy on my skin at all and soaks in quickly.

Gentle Face Exfoliator

This is the only product I've not tried in this kit yet.

As part of my Liz Earle spree, I also decided to buy the Skincare Try-Me Kit. I wanted to get this as I thought it would be perfect for going away and not having to take full sized versions of the products with me. In this kit, it contains all the essentials, cleanser, toner, and moisturiser, but also comes with a face mask too. I'm really looking forward to taking it with me when I go away and being able to continue on with the skincare routine that I've built up with Liz Earle over the last month. I have to admit, I really have noticed a difference in my skin, it seems a lot more alive and hydrated, and I have had lots of people tell me that my skin is looking radiant, so it's definitely a step in the right direction. I'm totally converted!
