My Journey To Whiter Teeth With Janina

I'll admit, I do like to drink a cup of tea. In fact, some days I'll drink a few cups, and have the occasional coffee too. The result of this is that I have a fair bit of yellow staining on my teeth which I'd quite like to shift because let's be honest, who wants yellow teeth?

I was recently very kindly sent the Janina Maxiwhite Whitening Strips*, and the new Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Toothpaste* to try out and review. I was very excited to try these products out, I'd been looking around for ages to find some teeth whitening products and felt slightly overwhelmed at what was out there!

So, the first product which I tried out was the most recently released product from Janina, and is their Ultra White 24K Gold Toothpaste. What I loved about this toothpaste before I'd even tried it, was the fact that there are no harsh abrasives contained in the product. Instead, it includes Bromaine Complex, a combination of natural enzymes such as Pineapple and Papaya. There is also Colloidal Gold flecks (which are visible in the toothpaste) contained within the toothpaste, which is proven as an anti-inflammatory and aids regeneration.

Onto my actual use of the product, the instructions say to brush your teeth twice a day for at least 3 minutes a time, and not to rinse your mouth with water after. I'm not the best judge of time, so I set a timer for 3 minutes so I know when I've brushed enough! Now this may be a little TMI for you, but I have to admit, this toothpaste really gets rid of the dirt in your teeth - it kind of shocked me to see just how much it got rid of in the sink! My teeth have honestly never felt so clean since I've started using this product.

In terms of the whitening effect? I've been using the toothpaste for nearly 2 weeks, and whilst my teeth aren't completely white, they are definitely whiter than what they were before I started using the product. My teeth look, and feel a lot healthier too, which makes using this so worthwhile. I will continue to use the toothpaste, and will hopefully see the whitening effect continue to progress.

The other product I received was the Janina Ultra White Maxiwhite Whitening Strips. The strips can either be used twice a day over 7 days, or once a day for 14 days, for 30 minutes at a time. I haven't got round to using these strips yet, but what I plan to do is to write a mini review on my Instagram (Instagram.com/carriefi_) once I've used these, and let you know how I get on with them!

Overall, I've been thoroughly impressed with Janina. I hadn't heard of the brand before, but I'm definitely a convert to them, and will be purchasing some more of their products in the future!

Janina is available in Boots. The 24K Gold Ultra White Whitening Toothpaste retail at £19, and the Ultra White Maxiwhite Whitening Strips retail at £20.

Benefit BADgal Bang Mascara Review

For me personally, mascara is essential in my makeup routine! I just feel that it finishes off a makeup look nicely. I'm also a big fan of trying out, and discovering new mascara's too. When I heard that Benefit Cosmetics were launching a new mascara at the beginning of this year, I was very excited to try it out.

The mascara in question was named 'BADGal Bang!', and is a relaunch of the original Benefit mascara 'BADGal Lash'. For the last three years, I've been incredibly loyal to one of Benefit's other mascaras, 'Roller Lash'. I love everything about 'Roller Lash' -  especially the lift it gives me, so 'BADGal Bang!' had a lot to live up to for me!

It's fair to say that 'BADGal Bang' has received some mixed reviews. Some people absolutely love it, and some people absolutely hate it. I have to admit, from what I read, I was a little put off by what some people were saying, but I wanted to go into trying this mascara with an open mind, as I do with every product that I try.

Luckily, I received a sample of 'BADGal Bang' in my March Birchbox which I was very excited about, and it gave me a great opportunity to put this to the test before actually parting with any money on the full sized version.

One of the points that many people raised about 'BADGal Bang' is that the consistency of the mascara is very wet. From my own experience having now used, and tested it out, I too found it to be a very wet consistency. That said, it didn't cause me any problems with applying the mascara. I was very careful when using it for that reason though. I also read that you shouldn't layer this mascara, however I've been layering my lashes with a few coats, and again, no problems.

What I really love about this mascara, is the wand! It's flexible, long, and thin, and really gets into my lashes to coat them with the mascara. I also love that the colour of the mascara is a deep jet black colour, and makes my eyes stand out even more. I do get a pretty good lift with this, and the mascara lasts on my lashes throughout the day so easily! Benefit have said that 'BADGal Bang!' lasts for 36 hours a time, however, I'm quite religious with making sure that I have all my makeup off before I go to sleep so I can't comment on that. But it's good to know that it will last if you need it to!

So, all in all I'm happy with Benefit's newest mascara! I ended up liking it a lot more than I was expecting to, although I'm still madly in love with 'Roller Lash'! But considering the mixed reviews I had heard before I had tried this, I personally had no need to be worried about trying it. What I would say is if you want to try it, go for it! If you don't want to commit to buying a full size, there is a mini version which is a perfect size to introduce yourself to the product. The full size is priced at £21.50, and the mini version is £10.50.

Have you tried 'BADGal Bang!'? What did you think?

March 2018 Birchbox Unboxing

March's Birchbox is focussing on something very important - self care. It's all about looking after yourself and indulging in some 'me-time'. Sounds perfect! I'm so impressed with the products I received this month, and I actually think it may be my favourite box yet...

The first product I received is the BLAQ Hydrogel Eye Mask. BLAQ is an Australian skincare brand, whose products I have only recently become aware of. Their products contain a core ingredient of Activated Charcoal and their packaging is very minimalistic. I've been wanting to try some eye masks for a while now, and I've also been wanting to try some BLAQ products - so this little discovery in my Birchbox is perfect!

The next product in my box is the much talked about, Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumising Mascara. This mascara is one of it's kind as it contains aero particles, and is said to deliver immense volume. I've heard lots and lots of mixed reviews on this mascara, some say it's amazing, some say it's too wet. I'm looking forward to giving this a go myself and seeing how I find it - I will of course be writing a review on this very soon!

Another product I was very excited to receive, is the GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Mask Treatment. I've heard so many good things about GLAMGLOW's masks and the effect they have on other people's skin. I'm really looking forward to giving this a go, and seeing what effect this has on my skin!

Next is the Beauty Protector Protect & Volume. This is the second Beauty Protector product I've received from Birchbox, the other product being their detangling spray which was amazing! I love the scent of their products - it's a really sweet smell. This product is aimed at boosting the volume into your hair, I can't wait to try this out!

Lastly, I received the Nuxe Reve De Miel Body Scrub. I love Nuxe products, and I also love the fact that this body scrub is very gentle. The scent of the product is lovely! This is another product that I can't wait to try out.

Product Empties #1 2018

Back in November 2017, I wrote my first product empties post. I really enjoyed letting you all know what products I had used up, and what I loved, and didn't like so much. I've decided that in 2018, I want to write more posts like these, so this will be an ongoing series - I hope you enjoy it!

The first empty I have is the Garnier Oil-Infused Micellar Water. I've been using the original Garnier Micellar Water for years - it's my ultimate lazy go to product. I love how effective this is at getting all my makeup off my face and getting it clean. Since releasing the original Micellar Water, Garnier have   added to the range - the oil-infused water being one of these. I really loved the scent of the oil, it got everything off of my face really well, and it left my skin feeling so soft.

Would I re-purchase? Yes!

I've recently finished up using the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil. I bought this after using, and falling in love with the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. I have to say in comparison with the balm, I didn't love the oil as much. The main reason being that it wasn't gentle on my eyes when I used it - it was absolutely fine to use on my face, but I just found that my eyes stung and felt very irritated after using it.

Would I re-purchase? Sadly not.

In my December Birchbox, I received the Baija Gommage Festin Royal Miel Caramélisé. Baija Paris isn't a brand which I've ever heard of - but that's the beauty of Birchbox, trying new brands! This is a body scrub which contains Honey and Shea and contains 97% natural ingredients. The scent of this body scrub is amazing, and it was so gentle on my skin - I loved it!

Would I re-purchase? Yes!

Back in December 2016, I received the Lush Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Scrub in a gift set. Just before last Christmas, I finally used it all up! Before I had used this lip scrub, I had never used one - but it made such a difference to the condition and texture of my lips. The Winter is so harsh, and can make my lips so dry and leave patches of dry skin, so the lip scrub was amazing at getting rid of that.

Would I re-purchase? Yes!

In a beauty advent calendar I had over the Christmas period, one of the products that came in it was the Lancome Energie De Vie Liquid Moisturiser. I had never tried a liquid moisturiser before, but it was amazing! First of all, I loved the scent - it was so refreshing, but the way that the moisturiser made my skin feel was incredible. The thing that I liked the most however, was that it was such a light texture, so it didn't feel heavy on my skin at all.

Would I re-purchase? Yes!

Lastly, I have also finished using the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion +. I remember using this as a teenager when my hormonal skin really wasn't great, and it did a brilliant job of clearing up my skin and making it look so much better. I got another bottle of this last year, and again I was impressed with how my skin felt after using it - I consider this a bit of a miracle product!

Would I re-purchase? Yes!

March Beauty Wishlist

Well here we are in March! A new month can only mean one thing on my blog - a new beauty Wishlist! Hopefully Spring and some warmer weather will be arriving soon? Saying that, there are some Spring themed products that have crept on my Wishlist this month!

I'm just going to jump straight into it, and the first item on my Wishlist is the OPI Go Nudes Set. This set is a Travel exclusive to World Duty Free, both online and in Airport Terminals. I love a nude nail polish, in fact it's the only shades I wear. I just love how versatile a nude nail is - it goes with anything. The great thing about this set is that there are a few shades of nude in here, but they're all really wearable.

The next item is the Benefit BADgal Bang Mascara. The most hyped mascara of the year! I love a Benefit mascara, in particular - Roller Lash. The BADgal Bang mascara has received somewhat mixed reviews so far, but I'm really looking forward to trying it myself and forming my own opinion, and of course I will be reviewing it!

The Nivea Soft Moisturiser is next. I absolutely love this moisturiser, it's so affordable but so effective at what it does. I'm not going to lie, Winter has not been kind to my skin - it's made it very dry and just really uncomfortable! The Nivea Soft Moisturiser always leaves my skin feeling supple, refreshed, and hydrated - and is a staple in my skincare routine.

The next item is something which is completely new on me. It's the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Gentle Pads For Sensitive Skin. These pads resurface and cleanse pores but are very gentle on the skin, and contain glycolic, fruit and hyaluronic acids - I've never used acids on my skin before, but I'll be intrigued to see what effect they have on my skin. These pads have had great reviews from what I've seen online.

Glossier is brand that I'm so eager to try - their products look and sound amazing! The Birthday Balm Dotcom and the Priming Moisturiser are both on my Wishlist this month. These are both products that are raved about, and I can't wait to try them for myself.

Lastly, Lush have recently released their Easter range! I love a Lush seasonal range, and this Easter looks a good one! There's three bath bombs that have made its way onto my Wishlist; Free Rangers, Golden Egg, and Which Came First. They're all shaped like an egg which is just so cute!
