Birchbox X Vogue Unboxing November 2017

This month's Birchbox is in collaboration with Vogue - so exciting! As such, the products which have been chosen for the boxes this month are taken from the Vogue 100 Beauty Hall of Fame. Not only do you receive 5 beauty products, there is also a complimentary voucher for 6 free issues of Vogue magazine, not bad at all!

The first product is one that everybody has received in their Birchboxes this month and is also the one which I'm most excited about - Benefit Hoola. I've wanted this product for so long, and I don't know why I haven't gone out and bought it yet but I'm so so excited to give it a go. It's a raved about product and almost everyone loves it so I'm looking forward to finding out why that is!

The next product in my box is the Percy and Reed No Oil Oil. I've used this product before and I really loved what it did for my hair, not to mention how much I love the scent of Percy and Reed's products.

I also received the James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face. Now I'll admit, this is the one product I've received in my box that I'm not 100% feeling. I'm not a massive 'tan' person and the thought of using a tan product on my face scares me slightly in case I end up looking like a Oompa Loompa! I personally would have preferred to have received the Clarins Hand Cream instead but, beggars can't be choosers.

The Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is another product in my Birchbox this month. I actually haven't heard of this product before, but it looks pretty good. The fact that it's a fast drying is an absolute winner, haven't got time to be waiting around for nail polish/top coats to dry!

Last but not least is a Birchbox exclusive, and is a Birchbox own branded Brush Cleaner. I can't stress how important it is to clean your brushes after you've used them, and having a brush cleaner makes doing a laborious job that bit more easier, trust me!

I also want to give the actual box itself a little mention too. Half way through last month I received an email from Birchbox asking me to pick from two Vogue themed box designs and I picked the pink design - I absolutely love it! I feel like this is one box I don't want to get rid of and keep as a momento!

November Beauty Favourites

There's so many products which I've been loving at the moment, and I just had to share them with you!

The first product in my November favourites is the Origins 'Never A Dull Moment' Facial Polish. I had been looking to try a new exfoliant for my face but just didn't know what product to try out. Through looking at the Boots websites and numerous reviews, I came to choose the Origins one. I'm a fan of Origins skincare as it is, and 'Never A Dull Moment' has become a film favourite for me! I love the fruity smell of it and I just love the colour of the packaging too!

I've also been loving the OGX Brazilian Keratin Smooth Shampoo. This shampoo smells amazing because it contains Cocoa Butter, and thanks to the avocado and coconut oil and keratin proteins it's made my hair feel super smooth and soft.

During my evening skincare routine lately, I've been using the LancĂ´me Absolue Premium Bx moisturiser. I received this in the Boots Beauty Advent Calendar last year, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best moisturiser's I've ever used! It's quite pricey, however the quality is brilliant and I've noticed a difference in my skin since using it.

I've included the YSL Black Opium perfume in my November favourites, however it's been a year long favourite for me. The scent of this is just so refreshing and I have received so many compliments from people when I wear it, I've also found that it's one of the most long wearing fragrances too.

I suffer with extremely dry skin on my lower legs which can cause them to become very itchy. To combat this, I've been using the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Oil on my legs as soon as I step out of the bath or shower. It's honestly worked miracles on me, my legs are nowhere near as itchy as they were and feel so much more softer and moisturised.

Whilst on the topic of dry skin, I've also been using the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter. This body lotion not only makes you smell great, but it's also super moisturising and really nourishes my skin. It's been a favourite of mine for a while but I've recently fallen in love with it all over again.

For Christmas last year, I received the Sugar Plum Lip Scrub in a Lush gift set. I've recently started using it and I cannot believe I hadn't used a lip scrub before! It makes my lips feel super soft and smooth and is especially great if you wear lipstick and you don't want the lipstick getting stuck in any dry skin on your lips.

Last but not least in my November favourites is the L'Oreal Volume Couture Mascara. This is the only mascara I've ever used which gives my lashes the volume and length I desire! I'm so so obsessed with this and the bets bit is that it doesn't break the bank!

Let me know what your favourite beauty items are at the moment?

Lush Lord Of Misrule Review

Lord of Misrule was one of my favourites from the Lush Halloween range last year, so when I saw it was back again this year I couldn't wait to purchase it again!

Lord of Misrule is a bath bomb which contains patchouli and black pepper oil, although I find that actually smells quite sweet. Lord of Misrule also contains popping candy which you can hear crackling away while the bath bomb disintegrates in the bath.

The actual bath bomb itself is green, but as soon as you place it in the bath there's an explosion of green and pink colours which fill the tub. I really believe that this is one of the most prettiest bath bombs that Lush produce! After the bath bomb has completely disintegrated the bath water isn't green, but completely pink! It's a gorgeous deep pink colour.

The smell is just absolutely amazing, it's a really distinctive smell but actually I found it extremely relaxing too, which is just perfect for an evening soak in the bath. Looking at the ingredients, this contains vanilla as well as the patchouli and black pepper oils so that would explain the sweet smell!

I have to admit, when I first looked into purchasing Lord of Misrule during Halloween last year, I wasn't sure about it because it actually looks quite plain before you place it in the bath, but my oh my you're in for a treat when you place it in water!

Overall, I adore the Lord of Misrule bath bomb, its one of the most visually stimulating products I think I've ever tried from Lush. It smells gorgeous, and I found that it made me feel extremely relaxed for a good nights sleep. The addition of the popping candy in the bath popping away created even more of a spectacle before I jumped in the bath. My only wish is that it was available all year round! It's reasonably priced at £3.95 so it's absolutely purse or wallet friendly!

Let me know if you have tried Lord of Misrule or any other products from the Lush Halloween range?

October Beauty Wishlist

It's time for me to go through my October Beauty Wishlist! I feel like there's a good mix between skincare, makeup, haircare, body and fragrance this month, and I'm so excited to share it with you all.

Starting with haircare, I've become very conscious lately of looking after my hair as it's now getting colder. I want to ensure that it's as nourished as possible, so I've added a couple of hair oils to my list - the first being MoroccanOil and the second being the OGX Reviving Argan Oil of Morocco. Both of these essentially do the same job but I think it would be good to try both and do a comparison of them.

The next product on my list is also from OGX and is the Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo. I've read a lot of good reviews on this shampoo and I'm always open to trying new shampoo's. At the moment I'm in a bit of a rut with my shampoo because the one I'm using right now really isn't working for me!

Moving onto the skincare section of my Wishlist, I've included the Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. I adore using cleansing balms to remove my makeup, I feel that they're so effective at doing what they do and I'd like to try this one because I haven't done so yet!

Next, another product I want to try is the Bilou Tasty Donut Shower Gel. This shower gel is a blogger favourite at the moment and it seems like a lot of people are raving about this. I love the sound of it - it sounds like it's going to smell delicious!

I've got a few makeup items on my Wishlist this month. The first being the Lip Cheat Lip Liner from Charlotte Tilbury in Pillow Talk. This is the perfect pinky nude and I just love it! I've heard good things about it so I have high expectations!

I also have False Lashes on my Wishlist! This is a new one for me because false lashes are a slightly unknown territory for me, however I feel like I want to start being a little more adventurous so I'm willing to give the Eylure 143 lashes a go!

The Nars Sheer Glow has made it onto my Wishlist. I'm in the process of looking for a new foundation, and I know that this foundation has good reviews on it so I want to give a go and see how I get on with it.

Last but not least on my October Beauty Wishlist is the Jimmy Choo Original Fragrance. I had a bottle of this a few years ago and have longed for another bottle of it since!

I hope you enjoyed finding out what products are on my Wishlist this month - let me know what products are on your Wishlist this month!

Lush Monsters Ball Review

Monsters Ball is another returnee from Halloween last year and I'm so glad it has returned! It's the most cutest looking bath bomb in the range! As the name suggests, Monsters Ball is shaped like a monster, with its one eye and colourful appearance.

Once placed in bath water, you're in for an array of colours to greet your bath and it truly looks spectacular. My bath water popped, crackled and the colours changed from being pink, to blue and then finally, deep purple!

This bath bomb is very similar to a discontinued Lush Bath Bomb called 'The Enchanter' and contains  the calacas scent. These scents -  lime, neroli, olibanum oils and also cocoa butter are all contained in the bath bomb. The cocoa butter can be seen in the monsters 'eye' area. This means not only does it leave you smelling great but also moisturises your skin and leaves you feeling completely relaxed. Although the scent is sweet, it's not overbearing and is just right.

I adore this bath bomb, for one thing because it's the sweetest thing you ever did see and is too adorable to be scary, but I actually like that the scent of the ballistic isn't too overbearing. The smells were just right for me, and actually I found that it did linger on my skin for quite some time after my bath. I especially loved watching the bath bomb melt away in the bath and see all of the wonderful colours come out of the little monster, along with the hissing and crackling sounds it made a chilly autumn night feel more warming and just perfect. I actually found too, that this bath bomb was relaxing and had me feeling wound down just in time for bed.

Monsters Ball may not be a strong enough of a scent for some people, however it's well worth giving it a go, at least for the colours in it and for the cuteness of the bath bombs itself! For £4.50 it's not a bad price at all.

Let me know if you've tried Monsters Ball?

Birchbox October 2017 Unboxing

So the latest Birchbox for October has arrived through the door and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by what's in my box this month! This month, Birchbox has collaborated with Coppafeel in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to promote the charity and raise awareness. In aid of this, in the boxes this month there is a card and a sticker so that every woman knows what signs to look out for.

With that being said, the first item which everyone has received in their Birchbox this month is from Anatomicals and is their Grab Your Melons Shower Gel -  as the name suggests, it's encouraging women to 'grab their melons' whilst in the shower and check that everything is as it should be. Also, the shower gel is melon scented which smells amazing - melon is my favourite scent!

Next up, every Birchbox subscriber has received either a Model Co Contour Stick or Mascara - I picked the Contour Stick for my box this month, really because I already have a hefty collection of mascara's as it is but I was also intrigued by the Contour Stick and wanted to give it a go! It seems fairly straightforward to use so hopefully there will be no mishaps when I use it!

I received a BalanceMe Pure Skin Face Wash which will undoubtedly come in handy! It's 99% natural so it's ensures that you're really looking after your skin and getting rid of any dirt and grime that may be on your skin.

The next item in my box I was really surprised to see! It's the Benefit Porefessional Pearl Primer. Benefit's Porefessional is my favourite primer, however I've only tried the original version of it. The Pearl Primer gives a soft radiance to your skin as well as prepping it so I'm really looking forward to seeing the results after I've applied it!

Last but not least, I received the ecoTOOLS Colour Perfecting Minis. These are little sponges which help to colour correct in certain areas of your face - the mint colour corrects redness, the pink colour corrects dark circles, the lilac songs corrects dullness and the peach colour corrects dark spots. I've never seen these before so hopefully they do a good job at colour correcting - I'm intrigued!

Overall, I'm really happy with box this month, I wasn't really expecting too much from it as my last box was amazing but actually I've been pleasantly surprised with what I've received and I can't wait to start using the products which I've received!

Lush Halloween Haul 2017

I seriously cannot believe that we are edging closer and closer to Halloween! The months seem to be scarily whizzing past, however with the near arrival of Halloween comes the release of the Halloween range from Lush!

I mentioned on Twitter a little while ago that I was running low on some supplies from Lush, so I took the opportunity to log on to the Lush website and purchase a few goodies. A lot of the products in the range this year are similar to last years range, so I purchased the products I knew I liked, and also picked up the ones which are new to try them out.

One of my favourites from last year is the Monsters Ball (£4.50) bath bomb. As the name suggests, this is a bath bomb sculpted as a monster (but more cuter), and it just smells so good! It contains
Lime, Neroli and olibanum oils so you'll be feeling fresh and relaxed after your bath.

I then took the opportunity to go for a new product. I decided to try one of the new jelly bath bombs, Ectoplasm (£4.95). This one I'm feeling slightly unsure of because I've seen and heard some people say that the jelly texture isn't a nice sensation when it gets on your skin. I always like to try things myself though before I make a judgement - look out for either a blog post or tweet reviewing this product!

Another new product in the Halloween range at Lush this year is the Bewitched (£4.25) bubble bar. It's in the shape of a black cat, and just looks adorable! Bubble bars are brilliant because you can use a little bit at a time so they last for ages!

I really enjoyed the Lord Of Misrule (£3.95) bath bomb last year -more so than I originally thought I would, so that's back in my bathroom again this year! I loved the scent of it, and the colour in my bath looked spectacular.

Last but not least, another returning product that was in my basket was the Sparkly Pumpkin (£4.25). I have to say, if you hate glitter this is not a product for you, because it gets everywhere! I don't mind however. This is also a bubble bar so this should last me a few weeks. I also noticed that there is a pink version of this too, so you can pick between either the traditional orange or the pink.

I'm so glad that the seasonal products are back at Lush - It's perfect for a nice warm hot soak on a cold day!

Let me know if you have, or are planning to pick up any items from the Lush Halloween range?

L'Oreal Infallable Nudist Matte Lip Paint in Dead Lips Review

If you read my post about my Boots Haul back in August, you will have seen that one of the products in my haul was the L'Oreal Infallable Nudist Matte Lip Paint in the shade 'Dead Lips'. I feel like ever since I bought this I've been wearing it non-stop - I can't get enough of it!

This range is a collection of nude liquid lipsticks which apply matte and are said to last up to 8 hours. I chose the shade Dead Lips which is more of a brown toned nude colour. The shade seems just right for my skin tone and really complements it well. I do feel that it lasts well throughout the day, however I wouldn't say that it lasts for a whole 8 hours after drinking and eating etc.

From the initial sight of the product, I assumed that this would be applied like a lip gloss in a squeeze tube, however, the lid is actually a wand therefore you use the wand to apply the product.

One slight downside to this product that I personally found is that it can be slightly drying - despite the product being advertised as not drying out. To combat this, I always make sure I apply some lip balm about 15-30 minutes before applying the lipstick, and I would do that before wearing any lipstick. This hasn't put me off of using this lipstick, I do like to take this off after a few hours to give my lips a break from feeling ever so dry, but again I do that with any lipstick that I wear. I must confess that I actually really like the product. The colour is definitely the sort of nude which I prefer, however there isn't a big variety of nude colours - there are some options, but it would be nice to see more shades added to the range eventually.

This is also really purse friendly too at just £6.99 from Boots, so it's not going to break the bank and is extremely affordable.

Let me know if you have tried any of the colours from the Infallable Nudist Matte Lip Paint range?

Next Autumn/Winter Wishlist

The other day I received a catalogue through the door from Next. I love Next, especially their homeware so I was very excited to see what they have in store for the next few months!

Starting with clothing, the first item to catch my eye was a Faux Fur Cardigan in Black. This looks super comfy, and would be brilliant with a simple black top underneath and a pair of jeans.

I also really adore the Black Faux Fur Shearling Jacket, these jackets have become very popular lately and they just look so comfy and perfect for the colder weather that's coming.

The Ecru Cable Sweater is another of my favourites from Next's new range. It's a roll neck cable style jumper which looks very soft and would be perfect for keeping the cold over the next few months. I'd love to wear this with a simple pair of skinny jeans and some Ugg boots for a cosy relaxed look.

Another roll neck jumper to catch my eye was the Grey Scatter Pearl Sweater. I love the effect of the pearls at the bottom of the jumper, it looks really elegant and comfy.

Onto footwear, and I've been looking for a pair of Black Over The Knee Boots, and Next have some which are exactly what I've been looking for!

Next also have some amazing festive candles which are out now! I particularly like the Festive Spice 3 Wick Candle, the Prosecco Jar Candle, the Gin Fizz Jar Candle, the Mulled Wine Jar Candle and the Gingerbread Jar Candle.

I'm so so impressed with what Next have in at the moment, I can feel the shopping basket calling me!

Let me know if there's anything in Next which has caught your eye?

Boots Haul September 2017

Recently I've been running low on some beauty supplies, so I took the opportunity to pick up some things in Boots. I'm going to admit, it's mostly 'the essentials' so it may not be mega exciting, however I thought I'd give you all a little glimpse into what I picked up.

Firstly, I needed some haircare bits and bobs. I've been having a bit of a mare with the shampoo I had been using - I just felt like it really wasn't getting my hair totally clean or giving me any shine to it. On the Boots website I had read some excellent reviews of the OGX Ever Straightening and Brazilian Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner. This shampoo contains coconut and avocado oil and also keratin proteins and cocoa butter and I can confess that it smells gorgeous!

Another item I picked up from OGX is the Argan Oil of Morocco Miracle In Shower Oil. This is another product that I'm hoping will up the shine and smooth my hair. What I really like about this product is that you can use this oil in multiple ways. You can apply a few drops into your hair before washing, add a few drops into your shampoo/conditioner, or you can apply it to towel dried hair. You can even apply it to your body!

Using Heat Protection is vitally important before applying any form of heat to your hair, and my personal and long standing favourite is the Lee Stafford Heat Protection Shine Mist. I adore the smell of Lee Stafford's products!

Moving away from haircare now, and onto the more general bits in my haul. I needed some more deodorant so I reached for my favourite deodorant which is the Nivea Pearl and Beauty. I love the smell of this and it makes me feel so fresh! I actually got two of these to stock up!

I had run out of shaving gel, and my favourite shaving gel to use is the Gillette Satin Care With A Touch Of Olay in the scent Vanilla Cashmere. I love the smell of the vanilla in this shaving gel. I find that some shaving gels don't smell all that great but this one does! I also love the fact that it moisturises your legs as you're shaving them and they feel lovely and smooth afterwards.

I needed some more toothpaste and some mouthwash so I opted for the Corsodyl Ultra Clean daily fluoride toothpaste and the alcohol free Corsodyl Daily Mouthwash in Icy Mint. I've never tried this brand before so I'm excited to try their products out!

A new discovery I made through watching one of Anna of The Anna Edit's videos is that Boots now sell a nail polish remover in a pump bottle! No more spilling nail polish remover everywhere! I just had to pick one these up, it's going to make removing nail polish so much easier!

To go with the nail polish remover, I picked up some large cotton wool pads from the baby range - it's always handy to have a little stash of cotton wool pads for all your beauty needs!

I wanted to pick up some Eylure lashes, in particular the 143 lashes. I've seen these on a few people recently and they look amazing! They're double layered but they look so fluttery and actually quite natural for a false lash! I'm really looking forward to giving these a go.

Last but not least in this Boots Haul, I needed a facial exfoliant as the Liz Earle one I had been using has run out. I wanted to try a new one, so I opted for Origins Never A Dull Moment. I really love the packaging of this one, it's a yellowy orange colour but it just catches my eye!

That's all in my Boots haul post! I really hope you enjoyed reading it!

What I've Learned From Four Years Of Blogging

This month marks four (yes, four!) years since I began writing my blog. I actually cannot believe it's even been that long. To me, it feels more like a year. I won't lie and say that blogging is easy, because it's really not, and I'll admit there's been times when I've lost the motivation to continue blogging and have wanted to give it all up. Thankfully I never actually have given it all up, because I know if I did I would regret it forever. After all, blogging is something that I really enjoy and is something that I can see myself continuing to enjoy for a long time to come.

As it is four years since I started blogging, I wanted to write a post all about the things that I've learned along the way during my blogging journey so far.

Blogging Is Time Consuming

Yep. Blogging is time consuming and it's the main reason why I have often become disengaged with my blog. The only time I have really had to spend time on my blog is at weekends, in between any social activities I may have. However, this is where time management comes in and where over the last four years I have learned to manage my time more effectively in a week so I can get all the blog bits done that I need to.

Be Organised

The last point leads me nicely onto this point. Be Organised. I used to plan, write and publish a blog post all in one day when I had no plans on a particular day. Sometimes if you have a free day, you may want to spend it doing something other than sitting in front of a computer. I now have a notebook with every Tuesday of each month listed and then have a blog post idea next to it, so I know what I'm planning on publishing on that particular date - I update this as and when a blog post idea comes into my head. I then have enough time to plan it and really think about how I want that post to look. This means that I'm no longer rushing my content or suffering from writer's block.

Use Scheduling Apps

This is something I started doing in the last year or so. I never really understood the importance of using a scheduling app until I started using one last year. It's made a huge difference to how I promote my blog posts on Twitter and has saved me so much time doing so. The scheduling app which I use is Buffer. I only use the very basic Buffer package which allows you to schedule 10 tweets at a time for free. If you want to schedule more than 10 tweets at a time, you can do so at a cost.

Get Involved In Twitter Chats

I cannot stress enough how effective getting involved in blogger Twitter chats is for your blog, and for you personally! Twitter chats enable you to build friendships, connections and propel your blog to an audience that you may not have previously had. I personally have a list of all of the chats, there's so many of these on throughout the week and all aimed at different genre's of bloggers.

Be Yourself

The brilliant thing about blogging is that it's your own little space of the internet, no-one elses. If you want to blog about something you truly believe in and are passionate about - do it! Don't feel pressured to follow the crowd or blog about something that you don't feel confident in writing about. The main thing is to be as authentic as you possibly can and let your audience get to know the real you.

When The Going Gets Tough - Take A Break

This point is so important. There's been many times in the past when I have suffered with a lack of content ideas, writer's block, haven't felt motivated and life has just generally got in the way of blogging. If any of that happens, it's time to step back and take a break. It doesn't matter if it's a big or a small break but time away can do a world of good. The chances are you will come back revitalised and full of energy to continue with your blog.
